Volleyball Australia is committed to providing a safe environment to bring national events back to the Australian Volleyball Community.

By making this commitment, Volleyball Australia has formed a COVID Safe Committee to help navigate the new event landscape caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This committee has also helped to develop COVID Safe Action plans for our upcoming events.

Plan

Implement plans, processes and systems to meet government, health and education requirements, and provide safe sport environments.

Make contingency plans to be put in place for your school in the case of an outbreak at the event.

Prepare

Be prepared for a safe training and playing environment by ensuring safe venue and participant practices. Such as hygiene practices, attendance registers at training and limiting shared equipment as much as possible.

Respond

Be prepared for management of a COVID-19 outbreak, noting things can change quickly in your area.

If you are travelling to an event and someone presents with symptoms have procedures in place so you know what to do.

Recover

Consider protocols to optimise good public and participant health into the future.

Schools should appoint a COVID-19 SAFETY COORDINATOR.

The COVID-19 Safety Coordinator will be your key resource and central point of contact for all matters COVID-19 for your school during an event.

The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for liaising with other schools, Volleyball Australia and other relevant stakeholders in relation to your school’s response to COVID-19.

To assist schools in appointing the right and most appropriately skilled person for this role, below is a list of the responsibilities for your COVID-19 Safety Coordinator

 

COVID-19 Safety Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities

Complete the relevant Return to Sport Checklist(s) by considering the actions set out in each checklist and implementing (or arranging to implement) relevant considerations in your school and documenting justifications for not undertaking particular actions.

Oversee the development and implementation of the school’s return to sport arrangements by documenting those arrangements in a COVID-19 Safety Plan.

The COVID-19 Safety Plan should address:

  • Points of COVID-19 transmission risk;
  • Transmission controls;
  • Hygiene and behavior requirements;
  • Physical and fitness preparations before a restart; and
  • Education and communication to relevant personnel.
  • Periodically review the effectiveness of the COVID-19 Safety Plan for your organisation and amend, update or improve as necessary.
  • Advise the relevant parties of your school on the effectiveness of COVID-19 Safety Plan arrangements and seek assistance where required.
  • Assist your school (operationally) to safely ramp up activity through the three phases of the Australian government’s “Roadmap to a COVIDSafe Australia” and as permitted by the relevant State or Territory government.
  • Act as the contact point for your school’s members and participants – particularly around questions relating to return to sport and the actions your school has taken to be COVIDSafe – and other relevant stakeholders (including government, public health and other authorities, other clubs, associations, State and National Sporting Organisations).

The Department of Health National COVID-19 campaign aims to reduce the risk to Australians by helping them to:

  • make informed decisions
  • take up health recommendations
